During the last federal election campaign the Coalition Government with Malcolm Turnbull leading the charge came to the Macarthur electorate to announce funding for insulin infusion pumps for children and young adults under 21 suffering from diabetes.

 This was long overdue and a huge relief for many families whose children suffer from type 1 diabetes.

Labor also announced it would fund insulin pumps for adults with diabetes who were hypo unaware and for those pregnant women with gestational diabetes.

Dr Mike Freelander said “reports today reveal that not a single pump has been provided under this scheme.”

“The Federal Government committed to fund the continuous glucose monitoring technology from January 1, yet two months later we haven’t heard a thing.”

“I call upon the Liberal Government to immediately implement this program. This is life saving and life style improving modern treatment long overdue.” Said Dr Mike Freelander
